Mets Police Morning Laziness: Loyal to the last out?

It is the final home game of the season.  A fine test of the Loyal To The Last Out Crowd.  It is easy to gather on the eve of a playoff, or on a nice afternoon when your favorite pitcher has a shot at 20 wins.  A meaningless Wednesday night game is another thing.  There were even some empty outfield seats on Saturday for Thorvey Day and Fireworks, so tonight could be a challenge for some of the more enthusiastic fans.   However, I have faith.  I believe.  I expect we will see a full section, if only one, out there 500 feet from home plate.

SLACKISH REACTION: tough sell for the Mets last night,  I once again went with Ken Burns’ Vietnam (it’s so so good), John Oliver, and I even found S1E2 of The Orville over the weekend on FX and had that on the DVR.  (By the way I am on Team Orville and very anti Star Trek Discovery.  Did you see that crap?  The first ten minutes was the Klingon version of the Star Wars Holiday Special, but instead of Wookies watching porn we had Klingons doing Klingony things in Klingon. Zzzzzz.)  Anyway, I digresss…

So I was watching Vietnam and then I saw R.A. Dickey was doing well and I thought to myself, I like R.A. and he might retire, let me put the game on.  So I started the twitter hang and joked that this is the kind of game that shows up on Faith In Fear in 2024 and you’re like “Oh yeah, that happened.”

So then I decided to pretend Greg did that on some past September 27th – so I googled Mets September 27th and up came this.

So what is that?  It’s the penultimate game at Shea, when Santana MANNED UP AND DEMANDED THE BALL and pitched his arm off and wouldn’t come out and kept the Mets alive for another day.  This is my personal choice for the greatest Mets pitching performance of all time and there is some serious competition for that.  Good memories.  And check out the name of the young left fielder.

Anyway THEN the stupid Mets scored and ruined Dickey’s gem so we don’t even get the cool FAFIF 2024 column and I went back to watching Vietnam.  With the Mets victory they clinched not finishing last which ruins what could have been a fun weekend in Philadelphia.

NOT LINKING: all the stupid copycat blogs are copying the article that the ex-newspaper guy turned blogger wrote about the Mets bringing Harvey back next year.  Do you all have amnesia?  This was said last week.  Even the article you’re all parroting starts with “in case there was any doubt…”   Please try harder.  Just try.  You have 53 guys writing for your sites,  Someone try.

NOT LINKING: the Mets won’t bring back Warthen.  What else is there to know.  All you need is the headline.
