As we discussed on twitter today, I think we can all agree that the spirit of The 7 Line Army is to be welcoming.
Also, the crew in the outfield also likes to do chants and cheers in unison. All that inspires my proposed 7 Line Army Welcome song. Think of this as the type of song that restaurant chains sing when it is your birthday.
So let’s say a Braves fan wandered nearby. Some members of the Army might not know how to handle it, and could accidentally say something that could be misconstrued as not welcoming. (Imagine you just flew in from out of town and suddenly New Yorkers were pointing at you yelling Shame or something. That could be unwelcoming even if the New Yorkers were just meaning it in a fun way.)
So I propose the following song. Should a fan of another team come by, how about singing
Welcome, welcome, welcome.
We hope you have a pleasant time.
Welcome, welcome, welcome,
Welcome to The 7 Line
LETS GO METS
LETS GO METS
LETS GO METS
LETS GO METS
(repeat until next ball put in play)
This song will accomplish the goals of the home fans bring united, knowing the right thing to say, brand reinforcement and support of the home team. From the visitor standpoint, she or he will know that this section is a welcoming place.
Does anyone disagree that this is the right thing to do heading forward?
