Great stuff here by Mark Carig and an absolute MUST READ. Some very damning quotes from players and organizational people.
Now some questions –
- Why haven’t we heard this before?
- Why is every player/manager/exec always stabbed in the back on the way out.
I don’t know what it was like in the clubhouse, and I can’t remember if I ever spoke to Terry or not (I probably did back when the Mets cared about bloggers during the Shannon Forde days) – but from where I sit (at home Mets, at home), Terry deserves better. He wasn’t the best, but he got you through some tough times and didn’t cause trouble;. He deserves better.
You may remember when he first arrived he had a reputation of being a Destroyer Of Teams – and @mediagoon and I called him Colactus. I don’t think I have used that term in quite a few years, other than a joke or two, so I’m surprised to read what I read in this Carig column. Again not at all questioning the column, it’s a MUST READ – just surprised to read all this out of nowhere.
“He has always been difficult to communicate with,” one Met said. “It would be a surprise if he said ‘hey’ to you when you passed each other in the hallway if your name wasn’t [Matt] Harvey or [Yoenis] Cespedes. It’s always been those couple things along with some of the in-game decisions he makes.”
