Record baseball ratings! So I demand Mets 8:20 starts now!!!

So as you know I have surrendered my fight against baseball and am now in favor of games tarting at 8:20pm, and the games taking longer.  In fact I hope this new strategy of four inning starts followed by 5+ relievers catches on.

Why?

Because the people have spoken.  And you my friend are the people….

Taking a 35,00 feet view, last night’s first Astros World Series championship is the second most-watched baseball broadcast in over 13 years.

Peter tells me that the Mets have scheduled just one Saturday day game this year.  As the Mets repeatedly tell me in person at the QBC, their research shows that the fans prefer Saturday night games.  And those fans are you.  Yeah you…

Maybe the t-shirt people could take a stand and tell the Mets they don’t want outings on Saturday night in 2018.  But they won’t.  So lets play on Saturday night.

Let’s look at 7pm starts.  Why do the Mets play their games so darn early?  If ratings are better later, why are they ending their games before 11pm?

In an age of longer and longer commutes, I know sometimes I don’t get home for first pitch and have to miss it (I used to listen to the radio but WOR WahWah noise and MLB APP Commercial LOUDNESS stopped me of that).   Why should anyone miss first pitch when all the evidence is starting us in the face….start games at 8:20.

You guys just spent a month telling me 8:20 makes sense, and I am now on board.

Imagine…you come home from work.  You relax a bit.  Talk to the wife.  Walk the dog.  8:20 rolls around and you put on the game.  Matt Harvey comes out and dominates for 4, and then Negan takes him out and we bullpen the rest of the way.   SNY gets to sweep all of prime time, and the game will take us right up until midnight, and they we can hit the hay.

This makes sense in October, it makes sense in May.

You guys are right on this.  I see it now.  8:20 starts now!

(Oh yeah, no more complaining about Sunday Night Baseball.  You have no more argument.  I argue it starts too early.)
