Crazy Red Zone idea to make baseball on TV less boring

Here’s the crazy idea of the day, and I’m not saying it will be easy to work out from a rights standpoint but…

You know how watching one NFL game is torture but watching Red Zone is cool?

You know how baseball is getting slower and slower with pitching changes?

What if instead of taking those commercial breaks, the RSNs teamed up and did some sort of mini mutual agreements.

Here’s what I am thinking…

It’s the 5th inning.  Mickey isn’t about to let Gsellman and his one hitter face the order for a third time and out he comes to make the first of the evening’s 7 pitching changes.

What if SNY could dip into the Shared Resources and cut into say the Nationals game for whatever is going on there.  Do a Big Box Nats and a small box Mets boring pitching change.  Maybe a banner ad up top or bottom.  Anything but a boring commercial break.  At least we’d still be watching some baseball.

As the season ebbs and flows and story lines change, the SNY Director could pick and choose from the Shared Resources and pop in wherever.   They kind of do this on MLB Network, so I am suggesting that baseball open this up to the RSNs.

I don’t know how this all would work rights-wise, but that’s my idea.
