Hi. Saw this from a feed I like a lot…

…and it got me thinking. Wasn’t the whole point of Wrigley being cool is that it was old?
In the past few years they’ve added jumbotrons and updated a few things. Now the dugouts are moving and there are New Bleachers and they are adding new entrances and stuff.
I’m the wrong person to ask – maybe the Cubs fans love all this. Maybe the bleachers I think were old are really only from 1974 and Chicago guys think they were the “new bleachers” and weren’t attached. I dunno.
But from 1000 miles away (fact check that too) it seems like Wrigley Field is just becoming the idea of Wrigley Field, and all that’s really cool is that it’s a small park in a neighborhood. But if that’s the point why bother with modernizing a 100 year old place – why not knock it down, play somewhere else for two years and just get it over with and build the Cubs Dome in the neighborhood and we can all get drunk in Wrigleyville after the game. As was pointed out on my twitter feed, the Yankees have done a fine job of brainwashing people that Babe Ruth played at Yankee Stadium III which isn’t even on the same side of the street as Yankee Stadium II which at least you could sort of pretend was Yankee Stadium.
Anyway, this is someone else’s fight and if the Cubs fans like it, great. For me, I’m glad I caught the version of Wrigley I did earlier this decade before all the new stuff.
And hi to any Cubs Fans checking in. I’d truly love to hear from you. Comment on the Mets Police Facebook Page.
