Pondering your 2018 Mets All Stars. Or is it All Star?

I noticed that the All Star ballots aren’t out.  Last year we had them May 2 which was absurdly early.  I mentioned this on twitter and @mets said they would be out soon.

First, let’s ponder who will be on the ballot.  Traditionally the names are submitted at the start of the season.  It’s possible that MLB has discovered computers and these are being as late as tonight, but I am going off the premise that they had to be in a while back and someone at MLB scrubs the list to look for riduclousness.

My guess on who the Mets named….

1B  Gonzalez

2B  Cabrera

SS  Rosario

3B  Frazier

OF  Cespedes, Conforto, Bruce

C    I guess d’Arnaud

That’s pretty straight forward.

Now on to who will make the team.

I’m going to guess that’s it.

WHAT?  I know you’re outraged.

Some thing to consider.

It’s hard to make the team from not being on the ballot.  You will now throw Conforto 2017 in my face and you’re right.  I know some of you are team Nimmo but .260 and 5 HRs ain’t gonna make it for a guy that doesn’t start every day.

What about Cabrera?

This is when we have to remember every team needs a rep and that humans and bots vote.

Figure the starter could be Baez from the Cubs.  Who?  Doesn’t matter.  The Cubs people will vote.

Now you need to take a Red, and Scooter Gennett plays second.

How about the Marlins?  Your choices are Realmuto  (C) and Castro (2B).  Cabrera probably gets lucky here and they take the catcher.

Also keep in mind that the game is in DC.  And even though it will be completed undeserved as the man hasn’t played this season – you know who plays 2B for the Nationals, right?   If he starts playing maybe the Nats fans vote him in.  Longshot but not crazy talk (if the game were somewhere else it’s crazy talk)
