Looks like cool things going on in the Australian Baseball League

I was worried about the ABL after they lost their relationship with MLB, but it looks like these are looking up heading into the 2018/19 season

The eight teams will form two conferences playing a 160-game season across 10 weeks. Each team will play eight home and away games against the other three teams in its conference, with cross-conference teams matching up in a single, four-game series each season.

The Korea thing is interesting.  They will play in Australia, and it’s unclear to me if they are being staffed by Korea League teams or not, but as a concept it’s neat.  And..

“Expansion to include teams from international powerhouses such as Japan and Taiwan is also a high priority and aligning these teams to the right locations is critical to the long-term success of the league.”

Hopefully this sticks.  I’ve seen video of games and they look about as populated as Citi Field in late September, in very minor league type stadiums – but hey we have a thriving soccer league here in the USA.  It may take twenty or more years, but I am rooting for these guys.
