During last night’s telecast Keith Hernandez mentioned that he saw Rosario having a different approach at the plate. He said he noticed it two weeks ago. He also said he didn’t know much about it or if it was a plan or whatnot. (I am paraphrasing here).
Two weeks.
He’s noticed this for two weeks but don’t know anything about it. He is the analyst on the telecast.
The manager has twice daily press conferences. Did Keith go and ask?
Did Keith ask Rosario?
Did Keith ask someone with the Mets?
Did Keith sent Timmy the Intern or have Gelbs find out or have anyone find out? Apparently not.
What a weird thing for the analyst to say. Two weeks, but didn’t bother to learn about it.
Later in the game, Keith mentioned Dom Smith had a new stance. This too Keith said he had noticed but knew nothing about.
This time Gelbs, who I kill on here daily, jumped in and explained it to the audience. Good job Gelbs!
Then Keith in his full force “I’m just winging it”Keith mode made a point of telling the audience that someone had adjusted the monitor in the booth. Now Keith could finally see the highlights of other games that SNY was playing from the studio all these years
Citi Field is in it’s 10th season.
I don’t know when the monitor got there but Keith made it sound like it has been there a long long time.
Does SNY not have production meetings? Did Keith not care about the highlights for a decade? Did he never mention it to anyone? I can’t imagine SNY would blow off a request from one of the stars of the telecast like that. Makes me think Keith never asked for it to be adjusted.
The entire night was a bad look for Keith.
I get you’re The Captain and You’re Keith Hernandez and part of your charm is the I Don’t Give A Fuck Attitude….but come on bro…you’re there to analyze the game. At least put SOME effort in. I know YOU aren’t going to be at a 4pm presser the way Howie and Gary are….but if you do have questions have SOMEONE find out for you. At some point there’s a job here.
What’s really telling is I brought this up on twitter last night and people agreed with me. Not one person came at me telling me I was wrong/stupid/negative. Believe me that happens on almost everything I say all day every day. Last night people were just like, “Yep.”
