Mets Police Morning Laziness: Alonso to HOF, Mets would be on crack, Francona throws heat

SLACKISH REACTION: I tried tuning into the Home Run derby a few times and it didn’t grab me.  I have been to about 4 in person and they were great, but on TV it just loses me.  And I am not sure what they were trying to do on ESPN NEWS  or who those guys were.  It was interesting and more interesting than ESPN Prime, but I am not sure it was good.  I also like how ESPN had it budgeted as 90 minutes in the programming guide – yeah right.  Anyway if you enjoyed it, cool, I am not hating on it, just giving you my Slackish Reaction.

Traditionally I love the All Star Game.  How much do I love the All Star Game?  I have every game on tape/DVD-R/Digital File going back to 1993 or so.  Why?  I don’t know – at this point I just do it because I have a streak and the digital file is relatively easy to do.  At one point I thought it would be cool to go back someday and watch the players of my youth, but that someday has probably come and gone.  Again, in 1993 it was a world where sometimes you would have to find a way to kill some time as you didn’t have a ridiculously large DVD closet where you could watch all TEN Star Wars movies if you want to, or every Star Trek ever, or whatever on Netflix, etc.    But believe me if in 1991 you had said “here’s some All Star  Games from the 1960s” there would have been a night where that got watched.

Anyway, I am not pumped for tonight.  I will watch, probably starting late as Junior has a soccer game, and starting late means no twitter hang – but I’m not pumped.  Just watching the one Met pitch the third inning just doesn’t do it.

Mike Trout is not a star says the Washington Post (and me)

Must Read: Nick Francona throwing some HEAT at MLB. I will spin this off into its own post.

In a really unpopular article (which is fine because as always I will be right in the end) I say the Mets would be on crack to extend JDG!

And let’s tap the brakes on putting Peter Alonso in the HOF after hitting a HR in an exhibition game.  He’s batting .190 in Vegas and yet I saw comparisons to Pujols and McGwire yesterday.  Anything less than 500 career HRs and this guy is a total bust.

I graded the first half for GKR and SNY.
