Whoa check out what Keith Hernandez does (and doesn’t do) to prep for Mets games

Holy cow, Keith’s prep is even worse than I had feared.

Sports Business Daily has “A Day In The Life With SNY Keith Hernandez” which I strongly encourage you to read.   About a week ago I had written that Keith sounded awfully lazy in the booth, well thanks to SBD we have insight into Keith’s day.

The lines in italics below are from the SBD article and I present without comment until after.

7am:  “I get the N.Y. Post and the Wall Street Journal.”

“9:30-noon:  I won’t do any game prep at home.”

2pm:  “I will listen to MIKE FRANCESA when he’s doing his baseball roundup.”

“4:00-5:30pm: When I get to the ballpark I begin my preparation for the game. I’m basically getting my scorecard ready, the statistics I like to look at.”

Then at 5:30 there’s a meeting with the SNY Producer who goes over what they are going to talk about.

So to recap, Keith’s TV prep includes two newspapers, Mike Francesa, and getting a scorecard ready.  No talking to players, no attending the pressers, no calls, no checking in with the people/broadcasters who work for the opponents, no working at home.  Newspapers and Mike Francesa.

Newspapers and Mike Francesa.

Newspapers.  And Mike Francesa.

Wow.

Thanks to Peter for sending this one my way!
