With the retirement totally not retirement in case any insurance companies ask of David Wright, it’s time to add some new folks to the Mets Hall of Fame.
As I mentioned, we have a long winter to kill, so let’s discuss the candidates one at a time rather than me just rattle off Alfonzo, Beltran etc. I’ll also discuss whether or not the person should have their number retired.
Today’s nominee is……
For younger fans born in the last 72 hours, David Wright leads the Mets in all (?) the offensive statistics, played 14 seasons with the Mets and was their team captain. Even as Team Captains go he was at worst the second most Captainy, with only Keith Hernandez being in the argument.
Therefore, I propose to you that David Wright should be in the Mets Hall of Fame. As David is totally not retired and I don’t know why you think he is, he should be inducted in 2021 after his playing career has officially ended.
