It is Metsgiving, a holiday I enjoy much more than Metsoween.

METS ANNOUNCE 2018 METSGIVING INITIATIVES


FLUSHING, N.Y., November 13, 2018 – The New York Mets announced today the return of their MetsGiving initiative, which encompasses a series of programs in November and December that focuses on helping the community during the holiday season. The events, including food and coat drives, a turkey giveaway, and a kids holiday party will feature Mets players, front-office staff, corporate partners and fans all working together to give back and help those underserved in the community.

 

Wednesday, November 14 – Mets 13th Annual Coat Drive

Mets Team Store at Citi Field 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

The Mets are teaming up with New York Cares for the 13th Annual Mets “Warm-Up” Holiday Coat Drive presented by UnitedHealthcare. Mets personnel and UnitedHealthcare employee volunteers will collect donations to keep those in need warm during the cold winter months in New York. Fans donating new or gently used coats will receive a voucher redeemable for two tickets to select Mets home games in 2019. Further details can be found at mets.com/coatdrive.

 

Friday, November 16 – Fifth Annual Turkey Giveaway

Mets players and employees will distribute more than 800 turkeys to families in need across all five boroughs. The Mets will work with the New York Common Pantry to hand out turkeys in Manhattan, Agape Food Rescue in Brooklyn, Hope Line in the Bronx, Project Hospitality in Staten Island and The River Fund NY in Queens. Each family will also receive ticket vouchers redeemable to select games during the 2019 season.

 

The Mets will continue the tradition of providing complete Thanksgiving meals to 25 families in those neighborhoods closest to Citi Field including Corona, East Elmhurst and Richmond Hill. Mets players and employees will donate the food and personally deliver the packages to the families’ homes in conjunction with NYPD Community Affairs. Players assisting with the deliveries will be announced at a later date.

 

Tuesday, December 4 – Kids Holiday Party

Foxwoods Club at Citi Field 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

More than 100 students from local elementary schools will come to Citi Field to play games, enjoy lunch and perform holiday songs at the annual Kids Holiday party. The children will receive a special visit from Santa and his elves who will be delivering gifts. Mets players participating in the event will be announced at a later date.

 

Tuesday, December 11 – Food Drive presented by Hain Celestial

Mets Team Store at Citi Field 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to bring canned and packaged goods (no glass containers) and enjoy a special appearance by Mr. Met. Food collected will benefit the Mary Brennan Inn on Long Island. Fans donating at least 10 non-perishable items will receive a voucher redeemable for two tickets to a select Mets home game in 2019. For more information, visit mets.com/fooddrive.
