With players seemingly more upset by the day, I thought this article in USA Today from February 2, 2018 (that’s 2018, let me be clear this a year old article) was interesting.
Van Wagenen wrote in a statement he tweeted Friday that behavior among owners “has changed dramatically” and that the activity “feels coordinated, rightly or wrongly.”
Many club presidents and general managers with whom we negotiate with are frustrated with the lack of funds to sign the plethora of good players still available, raising further suspicion of institutional influence over the spend”

That’s interesting. It must have been very frustrating for those general manager to feel like they weren’t given funds to sign the good players still available.
A year later, I wonder how Agent Van Wagenen would feel about teams not signing say Bryce Harper. I wonder if he still feels that the owners activity feels coordinated. Rightly or Wrongly or course.
Just curious.
Fortunately the players did not boycott Spring Training, and in 2019 I imagine Van Wagenen would not be in favor of such behavior as clearly things have gotten much better between the players and owners. I guess. I don’t know. Why don’t one of you beat guys ask him?
