Hi Baseball,
I know your sport is based in tradition and whatnot but I can’t help but wondering if it might actually be insane that you schedule one of your biggest events in the middle of the work-week, in the middle of the work day.
It’s weird. It’s really not convenient.
Some ideas….
Start the season on a Saturday. Maybe people could watch your sport. I get that you might want the gate goose that a weekday brings so lets put this aside.
Start the season on a Monday or Friday. Taking a day off that shoulders a weekend is always a lot easier than a mid week day. Co-workers seem to more easily understand that, “Oh, Jason took Friday off.” “Shirley took Monday off.”
That’s basically it. I find weekday day games a weird thing to begin with, all season long. Not a complaint, just a discussion.
