SLACKISH REACTION: More Shaky Starting Pitching from the .500 Mets. Fortunately there is one starter who can be counted on to give the Mets a fighting chance…
LAST TIME OUT: Took the loss despite allowing one run, earned, over 4.2 innings in his previous start on April 19 vs. Philadelphia at Citi Field in a 6-0 Mets loss…If Jacob deGrom lost giving up one run you would award him the Cy Young Award.
In that start Vargas with a V surrendered three hits, walked two and struck out a season-high four.
LAST TWO STARTS: Vargas is has a 2.08 ERA (two earned runs/8.2 innings) over his last two starts with seven strikeouts and five walks…Has pitched at least 4.0 innings while allowing one run on three hits in each outing.
#TEAMVARGAS is pumped
MORE SLACKISH REACTION: It’s not you Mets, it’s me. I got in the car, after a long day, at 9:55 and Wayne told me it was 4-4 and I……didn’t care and drove him listening to U2. This wasn’t about Wahwah or anything (because there is none) and I’m not mad at anything or anyone….I……just don’t care. I think this is more about not being attached to Keon Braxton Guys and not having a favorite player.
People got so Fudged off at me for sharing this…
The next Mike Jacobs?
Pete Alonso has 24 RBI after his first 27 career games, the most in franchise history…Mike Jacobs is second with 21 RBI after his first 27 games in the majors

Look man, that’s from the Mets’ team notes. It’s not like I spent the day deep diving to see if I could compare Pete to Mike Jacobs. Also, Mike Jacobs hit 32 HRs one season with Florida!
George Foster says he would not have passed a physical had the Mets asked for one. It was a different time, we didn’t wear seat belts and we smoked 4 packs of cigarettes before handing out free agent contracts.
Happy Vargas Day.
