You may or may not have heard the news that former Met outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis is retiring, following a seven year career.
Kirk made a splash with the Mets back in 2012, and after a couple stints with the team, ending up bouncing around the league before fizzling out.
I, for one, enjoyed Kirk’s energy and charisma, and thought that he was a nice guy, so I was fascinated by his early retirement announcement that surfaced earlier today.
The Mets Twitter account celebrated with this montage of his three homer game, so I thought this would be a great time to re-watch those homeruns, and play Sterling or Scully, retirement edition!
Using the entire field, Kirk Nieuwenhuis was the first Met with a three-homer game at home.
Congrats and well wishes on retirement, Kirk! pic.twitter.com/7CfNlnkpg7
