The Dark Knight Returned! Did Matt Harvey continue the Skaggs Magic? You’ll Look!

Hello from Europe where it was Harvey Day!  Since the London Series people cannot stop buzzing about baseball, and when we heard that The Dark Knight was going to return…well who wouldn’t stay up all night watching THAT?

Any good story needs a good narrative….

ANAHEIM — During the frustrating start to Matt Harvey’s season, there was a constant encouraging voice coming from the next locker.

Look I am not going to be the one to rain on this story.

“Although I’m not really throwing like the Dark Knight, like I used to, he kept telling me that,” Harvey said. “When I had some rough games and got down on myself, he was always there to pick me up. That was something I definitely took out there with me today. When I started getting in my own way, I said, ‘Remember who you are and just try to get the guy out and execute each part.’ He helped me through it…

Now did I actually stay up for a game that started at 3am CEST?  No.  No I did not.  But let’s take a look…the MLB quick recap had all the familiar beats.

Here’s the Matt Harvey stares in pose.

Here’s the walking back to the dugout after an OK inning pose

Sit down son.

Sit down son.

The sweatshirt bully coming to get him

And the shot of The Dark Knight wrapping it up for the day.

He needed 57 pitches to get through three scoreless innings. After Mike Trout hit his eighth homer in seven games for a 5-0 lead in the third, Harvey locked in and threw 13 pitches in the fourth inning. An 11-pitch fifth helped him get through the Mariners’ order twice on 81 pitches, a welcome milestone for the pitcher who spent nearly two months on the injured list nursing an upper-back strain.

And that my friends is a good story.  Let’s go with it.  We can make fun of Matt next time.
