Do you not see it? I have been saying this all summer. While Koosman gets all the tough assignments, like starting on short rest against the Dodgers….Gil lets his boy Tom get all the easy gigs. If it’s not the expansion teams then Terrific gets to pitch against the 54-80 Phillies.
I mean, come on, I could get Cookie Rojas and Don Money out.
So Tom picks up his TWENTIETH easy win….ok maybe 18 easy, he was good in like two games…..and will probably win the Cy Young because people just look at the Wins column and don’t bother to see that Tom isn’t even the best pitcher on his own team.
Anyway it was a nice enjoyable hour and 52 minute baseball game and the Mets are 4.5 games out in September.
While I have you – can Pearl Bailey stop acting like she’s a huge Mets fan? Where were you when this team was losing 100 games for a decade. Suddenly we have singers in the stands getting coverage in the newspapers.
Next, the Bumper Sticker Guy will be making Seaver bumper stickers. There are a lot of fake Mets fans who will be back in the Bronx next spring.
