Mets Police Morning Laziness: the worst part about following baseball is the baseball

SLACKISH REACTION:  I don’t want to keep repeating myself (way too late for that) so I will try re-phrasing.  I find it Amazin’ that the Mets have created a home grown team, with some good players, likable players, they dress nicely, and there have been some big moments – and yet the product is somehow not compelling at all.  You’d think that Meaningful Games would make it interesting, but to over-use my new phrase, the worst part about following baseball is the baseball.

I had the game on yesterday, I don’t even care enough to really comment on the whole Youtube thing.  I had it mostly muted – it looked fine – and I when I did unmute there were some interesting twists like having Scherzer hang out on mike – but the actual PBP sounded more like narration than someone hanging out with me during a game.  Maybe this Gary Cohen guy IS pretty good.

The Mets are 4.5 out of the Wild Card.   Off today.  Phillies tomorrow night.

There’s nothing else to tell you about.  Quiet off the field.  Beat useless.  I’ll let the AAIMBR waste words like “if Cano can hit like THIS…” or write another Pete Alonso piece (sorry gang, I cannot trust MLB’s numbers this season – it’s like JJ Abrams is directing – ooh look lens flare and a rookie hitting 50+….thats not “real” – so it doesn’t excite me.

Maybe I will deep dive on t-shirts or caps today to shake my malaise.
