Pete Alonso hit another home run! I think baseball and the Mets want me to feel excited about all the home runs, but it is having the opposite effect. It’s so many that none of them have any impact. I do not care at all if he breaks this record or not.
SLACKISH REACTION: The Difference Maker got it done! Now the Mets only finish somewhat out of the Wild Card instead of really somewhat out of the Wild Card. I’m not sure what Cashman was thinking when he didn’t mortgage the future to get Stroman.
I watched for like an hour. Caught the Hubie Brooks part – that as last night, right? – which was fun. Saw another Too Many homer from Alosno. Then had some Gelbs time. Then I decided life was short and I watched Bill Burr on Netflix.
Over at Van Hagar, the Red Blogger is finally realizing that attending games is stupid as he has had another lousy experience. For me, barring a stunning decision, this will be like the second maybe third game in my life (starting at age 7 anyway) that I attended no Mets games. Didn’t miss it. Last year I went to two (Opening Day and Wright Day) plus a Cubs game in Chicago.
Today’s game is at 7 on Fox because people hate sunny Saturday afternoon baseball. Sounds extremely skippable, especially on TV.
NOT LINKING: Nonsense about Dom Smith learning center field. There’s a better chance of seeing me in CF next season.
