Today’s random managerial candidate is Inexperienced Derek Shelton. Wikipedia tells us
Derek Lee Shelton (born July 30, 1970) is an American professional baseball coach and former catcher. He is currently the bench coach for the Minnesota Twins. He was the hitting coach for the Cleveland Indians from 2005 until 2009, and the Tampa Bay Rays from 2010 until 2016. Shelton then worked as the quality control coach for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017.
Now If you told me that the Mets were holding a country music concert and the opening act was Derek Lee Shelton, I’d be like wow nice job, Derek Lee Shelton sounds great! But why we are looking at Inexperienced Managers to replace Mickey Hodges, I do not understand.
Even the Democrats are like, whoa Mets, too many candidates. Can we just decide on Girardi or not?
NOT LINKING: In other news, I think I am supposed to be excited that Pete Alonso is Baseball Americas Rookie Of The Year There, are you excited? Did you really care what Baseball America thinks until I mentioned Pete? Is there anything to do with this info? I will tip you off on something else – Pete is going to be the Actual Rookie Of The Year.
Speaking of Thunder Pete, the Baseball Mafia showed some cracks yesterday. There have been some rumblings that Baseball Incorporated has switched the baseballs for the post season and that these baseballs result in 50% fewer home runs.
I find that VERY interesting because, as we all know, Pete had an UNBELIEVABLE season – but had the baseballs say resulted in 50% fewer home runs, Pete would have ht lie 27 HRs as a rookie which would have been a very impressive rookie season and one more in line with the other 149 seasons of Major League Baseball. However, Pete is one of the greatest power hitters of all time, so he hit 50+.
SLACKISH REACTION: I did not watch any baseball but I did watch two plays of football – one play and then got bored, and then later another play and got bored. Been watching Ken Burns Country Music – I thought the episode about Derek Lee Shelton was pretty good.
