Is Matt Harvey’s career over?

Games start tomorrow, and to the best of my knowledge, Matt Harvey (the Next Seaver) does not have a baseball job.

This makes me sad as I very much enjoy following The Dark Knight’s adventures, such as last year when he made $11 million to go 3-5 with an ERA of 7.09 for the Angels, before spending some time in AAA.

If this is it for The Real Deal, we’re left with some memories of the All Star Game, some colorful side adventures, and the cautionary tale that Mets fans need to not put someone in the Hall of Fame when they’ve had a good two months.

Matty Baseball’s record of 44-49 will leave him just 267 wins short of the Original Tom Seaver.

Matt won 34 games with the Mets leaves him 36th on the All Time Mets Wins list, two behind Jim McAndrew and three ahead of Steven Matz who may pass TDK this season.

Fare Thee Well Matt Harvey.  Perhaps you can do a season of Survivor or maybe Former President Trump will bring back The Apprentice and we can follow your adventures on reality TV.

Hopefully your financial planner did you right with that $11M and you didn’t spend it on sports cars, burritos and companionship.   Go buy a nice big house in Connecticut, find someone to love you for you, and a local baseball team to coach, and every now and then when someone gives you the “hey aren’t you…” look, just nod and smile.   See you at Old Timers’ Day sometime.

Just a Local Hero, he used to live here for a while.
