SLACKISH REACTION: Oh no oh no oh no.
Look, I have been doing this a long time. Kernan and The Access Media are all excited that JDG has improved his slider.
IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT.
The spin is that now JDG is going to win his Third Straight Cy Young. First of all, that’s obviously really hard to do and would be a statistical anomaly, and you know how I worry about outliers.
Second. IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT.
I remember way back when someone decided Dwight Gooden was striking out “too many” batters and they messed with him so they could extend his career into the late 1990s and maybe the early 2000s. All they did was mess him up.
I hope to Zod I am wrong about this, but get ready for JDG to “not look right” all season. Which genius decided to tinker with him?
I feel bad for Wacha Wacha. He seems to think the Mets told him he’d be a starter. They probably did. The problem is they have six.
Matz and Wacha could essentially tag in and out of the rotation depending upon matchups. The team might also utilize an opener. (per MLB Trade Rumors)
Oh good, the Mets overthinking and overcomplicating things even more. That solution won’t work as it will just make everyone unhappy and off-rhythm. We’ve been playing this sports for 150 years, 50 of it with five man rotations – stop trying to reinvent everything and just play baseball. What makes anyone think the Mets organization is smart enough to pull this off?
