So let’s get this out of the way right up front. Did Barry Bonds use steroids? Yes, he admitted it in court. Did steroids boost his offensive numbers? Most likely they did. Was he the only one who was doing it? Not by a long shot.
The Hall of Immortals honors what players did on the field, regardless of anything else. With that in mind, is Bonds the all-time home run leader? Yes. Did he win more MVPs then anyone in history? Yes. Was he the most feared batter since Babe Ruth? Absolutely.
You may not like that fact that he did steroids, but steroids don’t give anyone talent – they merely enhance it. Bonds was one of the most talented players in the last 50 years. To watch him play, even before the steroids, you knew you were watching something special. Cooperstown may not want him, but the Hall of Immortals does.
