SLACKISH REACTION: When you ask for your ticket money back, take the money. Take the MONEY. Don’t take credit. You might not want to be in a crowded stadium anyway. And when there are games, the Mets are going to be so desperate to have people in the seats that my guess is they will deep discount tickets. Don’t let them scare you with their threat that you will lose your priority access…there will be lots of teams in the playoffs, so don’t stress about missing the 1-16 game or whatever they wind up doing. TAKE YOUR MONEY BACK. If you really want to sit in a crowd and risk Coronavirus, you will likely have lots of opportunities to get in cheaply. TAKE YOUR MONEY BACK.
The Mets finally announced their ticket refund plans, and I think the Post sums it up nicely…the bold is mine.
You can get refunded for games scheduled at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium through April.
Really, though, shouldn’t we expect much better from these franchises?
Because we know there won’t be any games anywhere through May and very likely through June, and who knows if there’ll be games in New York at all? Because you have to endure a “Where’s Waldo?”-type exercise just to find mention of refunds in the official statements on the team websites and then jump through hoops to actually execute the refund. (via NY Post)
The Mets didn’t send me a release about the refunds, and as I mentioned on twitter, I don’t feel like doing half an hour’s homework to educate myself on how to tell you to get your refund. You shouldn’t have bought tickets in the first place. Buy yourself a nice giant TV.
I don’t think Keith Hernandez understands Spinal Stenosis. SNY is running with a headline along the lines of Keith thinks David Wright would have been in the Hall of Fame if not for the beaning. I appreciate the sentiment, but I don’t agree that the numbers would have gotten there. His career effectively ended at age 32, and that wasn’t because of the beaning. I’m not trying to be a jerk or hate on David, I think it’s just an unrealistic take by someone who SHOULD be in the Hall of Fame, Keith Hernandez.
“So if you take away that unfortunate beaning, he might have been able to find a way to adjust with the injuries he had, as severe as they were … Overcoming mentally getting hit in the head like he was, it’s very difficult. I can’t relate to it.” (via SNY)
I also have to applaud SNY, they have chopped one David Wright conversation into like 75 articles. I stopped following them because I couldn’t take the empty calories, but people keep putting their stuff on my timeline. At least I blatantly label my empty calories as CORONAVIRUS FILLER.
Speaking if which, April 2020 was the lowest trafficked month for this site since I moved it over to WordPress in 2011. (By the way, my Mac just “autocorrected” site to be sister-in-law. What the Alonso?) April is usually the best month in a non-playoff year.
I am not surprised. I am not upset. As you know, I have barely been posting. There are no sport and there are real things to worry about. Thus, I decided there was little reason to force content just to get clicks. When there is content, like this morning, I will jump in….but there’s no reason for me to do a post telling you there’s nothing to tell you about.
I assume other sports sites also saw massive drops. Fortunately for me, my income does not depend on this site. I worry for those who have made a business out of their site.
Speaking of Alonso. Why are so many willing to hand the Franchise to this guy? Stop with the black uniforms talk, and stop dropping profanity into LGM. This guy has already had his best year and you’re all gonna turn on him because of that. He will only disappoint you from here.
There have been EIGHT players who hit 50 HR’s twice in their career.
List A includes Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, and Mets owner Alex Rodriguez,
List B includes Willie Mays, Ralph Kiner, Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, and Ken Griffey Jr.
Do you think Vulgar Pete is…whoever the worst player from List B is….and I guess that person is Kiner…..do you think he is Kiner good? I don’t even want to bring up List A.
Or is he Ike Davis? It’s a lonnnnng way to the Hall of Fame guys. Maybe don’t go changing the brand because some kid wants you to just yet.
Let’s Go Mets
Gary Cohen was asked about the Baseball Labor Camp deal and he said, “to the track, to the wall….” – oh no he didn’t say that, that would have been mailing in an answer with some words that have nothing to do with what is happening in the moment. What he DID say was…
“I am perfectly willing to do whatever it is and I do not hold myself out as an expert on which would be the best plan,” Cohen said. “But what I do know is that, in this country right now, we are not even scratching the surface of the testing that would be needed to be able to make any plan a viable one. Until enough testing is in place to ensure the safety of everybody involved in whatever endeavor they try to establish, then it’s really a moot point.” (via NorthJersey.com)
