Mets Police Morning Laziness: Hello from the Deck

SLACKISH REACTION:  I felt like writing this morning.

The past few years I had gotten into he habit of hitting the Donuts Chain for a shot of caffeine, then I’d knock out a morning piece (the Morning Laziness) and then work out.

Since the shutdown I haven’t been doing that, and I have gotten away from writing because there has been almost zero Mets news.

This morning I decided to hit The Chain (Butter Pecan is back), so I slapped on my mask and mobile ordered and ran in to get it because I feel like a jerk making the people come out to my car.

It was sad.  A big empty store.  The tables gone.  No line.  Normally my friend Leo is there, holding court every morning as a rotating crew of regulars sit down and chat for a few minutes.  This morning, just our empty sad medium-term future.

I’m working out on Better Than Wright’s Deck 2.0 today as the weather has finally gotten nice enough.  I am wearing a baseball jersey for the first time in a long time, again because the weather is finally right.  This is my red Murphy Nationals jersey, and apparently the first time I have worn it as the tags were still on.   I doubt someone will break into my yard and accuse me of betraying the Mets so I don’t mind wearing it.

I had a nice weekend.  I don’t miss baseball.  It was just fine NOT watching baseball Friday night and Saturday night.  It was even better not dealing with a Sunday day game – or maybe the Mets were the ESPN game, I feel like they were – anyway I didn’t miss it.  I’m not doing schtick and I’m not saying things for the sake of a reaction.  I seriously do not miss it.  Or any sports.

There is no Mets news again this morning.
