When I started this series I stated that there are some players that are pretty much no-brainers. There is no debate they are an Immortal. Lou Gehrig is one of those players.
Everyone knows about the consecutive games streak and his tragic battle with ALS. But do you know just how good of an offensive threat Gehrig was?
In 14 full seasons he batted .340, amassing 2,700 hits. In 8 seasons he had over 200 hits. He also hit a lot of homeruns – 493 of them (when nobody else except the Babe was really doing it). But the one that really stood out for me was that in 6 seasons he batted over .350, and in 7 seasons drove in more than 150 runs.
Lou Gehrig is obviously an Immortal
