Baseball is so cute! They think they are going to have a season. The Post has a breakdown…
One way to minimize the travel, a source told The Post, is the potential to have series of as many as six games, allowing a team to complete its season series against a club in that park and not have to travel back to that same site. (via Post)
Oh that’s good. I look forward to seeing the second time a SP faces the same club in a week. That won’t get repetitive at all.
In addition, the sides will have to agree what occurs if a player or person in contact with the teams tests positive for the virus — does that shut down just the player, the whole team, the whole sport? (via Post)
Hey man stop asking questions, we have MONEY to make.
Also, the MLB plan will ask the players to take a pay cut because, at least to begin and possibly all season, there will be no fans and, thus, no revenue from ticket sales, parking, concessions and luxury suites. The union has stated the March 26 agreement with MLB covered this area, ensuring the players would receive a prorated total of their salary — about 50 percent in an 80-game schedule. The union has indicated there is no budge in its position on this. (via Post)
And this, over health concerns, will why they wind up not actually playing.
… teams would play a lot of games against division foes and then, for example, the Mets would have additional games as nearby as possible, so likely against AL East foes such as the Yankees, Red Sox and Orioles. One source said this is really at the mercy of where teams are allowed to play and when. (via Post)
This is actually good. I’d rather see those teams than the Marlins or West Coast teams anyway. And it grooms you for the Radical Realignment that is coming…so let’s get used to it now.
Other details:
Taxi Squads and expanded rosters. Yay, MORE relief pitchers. That’s what baseball needs.
14 team playoffs with first round byes. Whatever. Although staying sharp for a week can be challenging for those with the buts.
“Pick your opponent” nonsense. I hate this so much.
In the end, all I can ask you as a fan, is THIS what you want? Are you that hard up to watch television? Do you not have Netflix? I get it from the owner’s standpoint as they don’t want to blow the TV money….but as fans…..6 game series? Taxi squads? Nearly half the league makes the playoffs? What are we even doing?
I do not miss baseball at all. ZE-RO. I’m fine with not having a season.
