Tris Speaker was simply one of the greatest centerfielders the game has ever seen.
In a career that spanned 22 seasons, Speaker had a .345 lifetime batting average, good for 6th all-time. His 792 doubles still stands as the all-time record, challenged only by Pete Rose who still fell more than 40 short.
In 1912 he won the MVP, leading the Boston Red Sox to a World Series title. He would win 2 more titles in his career – 1915 with Boston, and 1920 with Cleveland.
Tris Speaker definitely is an Immortal.
