I saw this tweet…
June 17, 1994 remains one of the most eventful days in sports history:
🏈 O.J. Simpson chase
⛳️ Arnold Palmer’s final U.S. Open
⚽️ U.S. hosts first World Cup
🏀 Game 5 of 1994 NBA Finals
🏒 Rangers Stanley Cup parade

..and it made me curious, so I looked up what the Mets did that day.
Your 2004 Mets?
LFer Fernando Vina. Remember Vina? Wasn’t there another guy with a V name that he was paired with by copywriters? Veras? Was the guy named Veras?
David Segui at 1B! Oh yeah, that happened. Hundley, Bonilla, Kent! How 1990s!
Pete Smith pitched 5 innings of 6 run ball. As a good example of how the game has changed for the worst, look at the rest of the boxscore. Mauro Gozzo pitched three innings of mop-up in a game that ended 6-5. In 2019 that would have been like 4 pitchers. The Marlins used only three pitchers….again a tight game…this would have been 7 pitchers in 2019.
Time of Game for a 6-5 game? 2:27 TWO TWENTY SEVEN.
This is why I old man you millennials about how baseball is broken. TWO TWENTY SEVEN, SIX-FIVE.
