New York, New Jersey and Connecticut announced plans Wednesday to impose quarantines on outside travelers from states with high coronavirus infection rates — a sweeping and unprecedented restriction that initially applies to some 40 percent of the nation’s population. (via Politico)
I have a friend. He is a baseball player. He lives in Miami Florida and plays baseball for the Marlins. He goes home every night and sees his family. Sometimes his family leaves the house and they do things like go outside and go to stores.
When my friend wants to play baseball in New York State in August, does he have to quarantine for 14 days, or is he allowed to wander around Queens? Are we locking him in some sort of hotel room when he isn’t playing. When he is playing, what about the other players, and the clubhouse attendants and the police officers and whoever else works a basbeball game with no fans. Do they get locked away in a hotel room?
Or is it just this…
Anyone found out of compliance will be subject to a judicial order and a mandatory quarantine, Cuomo said. Fines can range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on whether it is the first offense and if harm is caused (via Politico)
My friend makes a lot of money. He probably will write a $2000 check without even thinking twice.
.@NYGovCuomo says baseball players coming for Spring Training from Florida won’t be subject to the quarantine.
The DOH is working out health/safety protocols with the MLB.
