Dear Baseball,
Please try harder.
I know you are working on all sorts of ways to speed up the game but you are completely failing.
Last night’s Mets game, a 4-2 game, went 3:49. How is that even possible?
You need to eliminate mound visits. You need relievers to come in warm. You need a pitch clock. You need to enforce one foot in the box.
And then culturally you need to somehow encourage everyone to get things moving.
This was a national game with actual commercial inventory – on the Mets games on the RSN I am seeing a lot of unfilled inventory. I am sure your sales teams have the projections – if we’re not sold out then lets cut the between innings to 1:30.
I look forward to seeing the Fox MLB vs Cable TV NBA ratings today and how the Baseball Mafia explains it away.
