When do the Mets start worrying about Vulgar Pete Alonso’s numbers?

The season is more than 10% over.  Let’s take a look at some numbers.

In 7 games and 32 Plate Appearances, Pete has one HR, two RBI, 9Ks, and an OPS of .677 (millennials like OPS so I won’t bother with the .222 average)

Doing very very lazy math that projects out to

6 HR, 12 RBI, say 80+ Ks and an OPS of .677

Presumably he will heat up.  Lets double the numbers.   12HR and 24RBI, which will bring up the OPS.  Is that good?   Will the Ks magically decrease.

12HR an 24 RBI in 60 games would be roughly a 32 HR season in normal times- not bad for mere mortals, but this is the great Polar Bear we are talking about.   And those 32 HRs would come with 65 RBI (I am multiplying by 2.7 to get these numbers).

.222 32 and 65.    That’s not going to play well off last year’s expectations.

I am sure he will have a hot streak which will greatly inflate these projections….but on the other hand, there are only 53 games left.  It gets late early.
