Mets Game Notes for Jackie Robinson Day!

My friends the Mets sent me some game notes to distract me from trying to uncover all the mysteries of the last 24 hours.

Today, the Mets and Yankees will celebrate Jackie Robinson Day…All uniformed personnel on both teams will wear #42 for the second game of the doubleheader…Both teams will also wear commemorative hats and socks for both games.

There have been 138 players who have played for both the Mets and Yankees, including current Mets Dellin Betances, Robinson Canó, Chasen Shrieve and Justin Wilson.

TOTAL DOM-INATION: Smith is three PA shy of being a qualified hitter…If he did qualify, his 1.101 OPS and his .699 SLG would rank second in the majors. He would totally qualify except the Mets didn’t know what they have because they wasted two years of this guy’s development because he slept late once and then only played him because Cespedes went home.

All sane humans now see the truth that Dom Smith is the greatest and the Mets should have traded Pete Alonso at his peak value like I suggested.  Nobody even argues with me any more.   Once again, I was right.

Pete Alonso | INF | .225, 5 HR, 13 RBI, 0 SB

INF Andrés Giménez and OF Jake Marisnick have been reinstated from the IL.

Catcher Patrick Mazeika has been recalled as the team’s 29th man.   @MediaGoon is busy this afternoon and has asked me to go to Modell’s on his behalf.

RHP Corey Oswalt has been placed on the  IL, retroactive to August 26, with right biceps tendinitis.

OF Juan Lagares has been designated for assignment.  @MediaGoon’s 87 and 15 jerseys will be quite rare!

INF Brett Baty has been added to the team’s 60-Man Player Pool and assigned to the team’s Alternate Training Site.

Yesterday, the Mets reinstated RHP Michael Wacha from the IL…RHP Drew Smith was optioned to the team’s Alternate Training Site…Wacha was placed on the IL on August 8 with right shoulder inflammation…He will make his fourth start of the season tonight and is 1-2 with a 6.43 ERA
