Mets looking at stud Japanese pitcher

I am looking forward to my fellow bloggers acting like they have any idea who this guy is and analyzing his stuff for us.  I can read a stats line as well as the next fellow and sure these look good, but do I know anything about him?  No.

The Mets are, at minimum, looking into Tomoyuki Sugano, and one outside executive said, “Watch the Mets on this. I think they have as good a chance as anyone.”

Sugano, the longtime ace of the Yomiuri Giants, has twice won the Sawamura award, the Japanese equivalent of MLB’s Cy Young. There is not a consensus where he slots in MLB, with some evaluators seeing a top-of-the-rotation stalwart and others a quality mid-rotation piece. (via NY Post)

While I have you, the International Blogging Council compels me to mention that Noah Syndergaard agreed to a 1 year deal for $9.7 million.  A reminder that Scott Boras is a sorcerer who convinced the 2019 Angels to pay $11 million for Matt Harvey.  Wow.
