Here are the theme nights for 2022. You know Theme Nights, that’s where the Mets half-ass pretend they care about something because it looks good on social media. Sometimes they might even mention the theme 45 minutes before the game when the PA announcer is reading all the contractually obligated commercials.
I’m curious what let to Japanese Heritage Night. I don’t perceive there to be a large Japanese-American contingent in this area (relative to other ancestries) – and here’s some data on that. Your ticket does come with a limited edition Japanese Heritage hat (good news for Media Goon who will claim to be half-Japanese just to get one).
I’ve been doing this long enough to sense that the Mets aren’t doing that night just to be cool. For example if we look at some NYC DATA it would make just as much sense to have FRENCH NIGHT. So what is Japanese Heritage Night REALLY about Steve? Don’t kid a kidder.
Let me be crystal clear. I am not against Japanese Heritage Night. My question is why that and not French Night or Canadian Night (twice as many people) or Russian Night (approx 4x) or Indian Night (approx 7x)?
The answer is usually money.
Also, you want to prove to me you actually care about Pride Night? Wear Pride uniforms IN GAME. Giving away 150 rainbow hats to people in the upper deck doesn’t impress me.
Here’s an example of the Mets pretending they care….

“Pre-game programming” – please welcome the Senior Executive from somewhere we have a business partnership with and/or some place the Cohen’s have their name on the building (say the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (CCMC), formerly Schneider Children’s Hospital and North Shore-LIJ ) as he/she throws out tonight’s ceremonial first pitch! Yay, “pre-game programming.”
Anyway, the players are locked out so who knows if any of this even happens.
