Exciting Mets-Giants game notes!

LHP Carlos Rodon (1-0, 1.50) vs. RHP Chris Bassitt (2-0, 0.75)

New York swept a doubleheader from the Giants for the first time since July 13, 1979 at Shea Stadium…

The Mets are 9-3 through their first 12 games…That is tied for the third-best record through 12 games in franchise history…Also, 2015, 1986 and 1985…The best record through 12 games is 11-1 done by the 2018 Mets, followed by 10-2 by the 2006 team, and we all know how many championships they won!

Pete Alonso hit his 109th career home run on Sunday vs. Arizona and yet, he’s really not that good at baseball.

Alonso is toed for fourth in the NL with 14 RBI…He is batting .217 (10-46) with eight runs three doubles, three home runs, 14 RBI, two walks, a .478 SLG and a .761 OPS in 12 games this year…He is batting .353 (6-17) with six runs, two doubles, three homes, 11 RBI with a 1.389 OPS in four games as a designated hitter this year.

Francisco Lindor has reached base safely in all 12 games this year…He is batting .310 (13-42) with 10 runs, four doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, nine walks, a .442 OBP, a .619 SLG with a 1.061 OPS…He ranks sixth in the Senior Circuit in OBP and OPS and eighth in SLG.  However, now that Baez is gone, Lindor is the Most Despicable Met so he can rot.
