David Wright probably is the Truest Met of them all.
Of course Tom Seaver is The Franchise, but fate was cruel and took him away from us twice….but fortunately fate was kind and didn’t have a healthy Tom Seaver start Game 7 of the 1986 World Series for Boston because I think we know how that would have went.
David Wright never let us down.
He didn’t boo the fans.
He isn’t vulgar.
He didn’t sign with Miami six minutes into free agency.
He played his entire career, WITH HONOR, for the New York Mets.
All the other Captains have a bunch of other teams on their baseball cards…but not David Wright. He’s Mister Met.
Congratulations Captain on your number being retired. Hopefully the Cohens won’t be cheap and will keep yours nicely painted.
