At the Hall of Immortals defense is as important as offense in determining who should be inducted (remember that for later).
Brooks Robinson was arguably the greatest defensive third basemen ever. During his 23 year career he garnered 16 consecutive Gold Glove awards, more than any other third baseman (Mike Schmidt is second with 10), and more than any other position player.
Nicknamed “The Human Vacuum Cleaner” Robinson was to third base what Ozzie Smith was to Shortstop. His play during the 1970 World Series still makes highlight films for amazing plays.
For his glove work and mastery of the hot corner, Brooks Robinson is without a doubt an immortal.
