Insight into “Are the Mets listening?”

During the week it has come up a few times whether or not the Mets are paying attention to things like blogs.   Matt Cerrone at MetsBlog has some insight and commentary on the subject here.

At a personal level, I’ve heard from numerous sources that the Mets visit here.   I’m hopeful that both the Mets and readers realize that my goal here is to help the franchise, never hurt, and I’m pleased to see that some of my friendly suggestions (like renaming the Saturday plan) were taken, coincidence or not.

Matt talks about the poor job the Mets do in responding, and a few weeks ago I suggested they need a new public face since none of us believe in the current crop.

  1. Chief, the Mets only listen, when they have been sufficiently embarrassed. The embarrassment has to be on such a grand scale, that no one really knows the level to hit to get them to react in the right way. Just like the Hall of Fame thing, the Mets’ identity in a brand new stadium, and the whole Dwight Gooden signing the wall thing. The fact that it has to be this way would be embarassing for most people/organizations, but we are talking about the Mets, so the normal thought processes go out the window.
