The Wall Street Journal did an interesting statistical comparison that crunched some numbers and funds that this is the 10th worst Mets team ever, tied with Lee Mazzilli’s 1980 bunch. I’m half asleep but the story is here.
Speaking of bad numbers:
David Wright is hitting .061 in August. I told you I could be team captain.
30,554 saw the game. That’s two straight nights of 30,000.
In better news, future hall of famed Jon Niese gave up up 1 run or less for the 7th time this year. That’s the most since 1984 and a kid named Gooden. Nights like tonight are why the future HOFer will only win 287 games.
Finally, the ghost in the machine ate the second version of the 1983 yearbook post. I don’t have it in me to wrier about it now. Need sleep.
And if you think they’re going to dramatically improve in 2010 with the current management (and possibly ownership), you will need to change the blog from Mets Police to, em, this ->
