John Heyman tweeted this earlier today. I know this story made the rounds earlier this week, but it’s getting traction and it’s fun to talk about something other than Madoff.
The Mets will host the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field, people with knowledge of the situation told SI.com.
While the decision isn’t being characterized as “official,” plans are already in the works.
via New York Mets will host 2013 MLB All-Star Game – MLB – SI.com.
Maybe when we get done with King of Piazza (which resumes tomorrow) we can do some All Star logos (Media Goon and Randy get cracking, you guys have gotten better since the mocks you made a year ago.)
The Mets will have a nice run of marketing…’12 being the 50th season, ’13 being the ASG and a 73 anniversary and well 4’s used to be a Shea anniversary but I guess we don’t do that any more. A 45th of 1969 seems like going to the well too many times on that.
…
I have to remind myself not everyone reads every day – “King of Piazza” is a contest in which folks are sending in “Piazza Stuff” to see who can be king. There is no prize other than the ability to call yourself KoP.
…
Got my green Murphy on to meet the fellas tonight at Optimistiic Black Apple (formerly the Mets Bloggers Winter Conference, seems I was stressing folks out by calling it that, which kind of proves the point that it’s all in the marketing.)
You forgot that 2012 also has the banner raising and the ring ceremony. 2013 has the Piazza number on the wall ceremony after the Hall of Fame induction. (real and Mets)
Even though the Mets are hosting this, I will not be watching. Forcing NL teams to use the hated DH has given me the inspiration I needed to not watch this exhibition game at all regardless of the host. I will enjoy the Home Run Derby far more than this game (that, again, will not be seen in my house).
it’s about time.
after the mets were the host in 1964,the yankees and reds had the all star game twice!
