Dear Shannon,
Just writing to let you know about my experience at Friday night’s rally. I flew in all the way from Florida for it and even though the mets lost the game, it was well worth it. Living away from NYC really makes you miss the camaraderie of being with other Mets fans.
My sister and I thought we’d head down the Shea bridge early to get a good spot. I’m glad we did because we got there just before Reyes hit his triple.
Security was definitely aware of us but didn’t cause any problems at all. In fact some of them seemed to be amused and enjoying the rally. I think the only time they said something was when the crowd started to get large they just asked everyone to make sure we left enough room for others to pass through the bridge.
The group did a pretty good job of policing itself. At one point someone started an anti-Wilpon chant and someone else shouted out that we wanted to keep it positive. Everyone switched back to Jose chant without further incident. Everyone was so friendly and willing take pictures for one another.
I loved seeing everyones different outfits and signs in support of Jose. The players were definitely aware of us and Jose acknowledged us several times with a smile and a wave. Hopefully he appreciated our outpouring of love and we reminded him why Mets fans are some of the greatest fans in the world. No matter what happens with Jose though the experience was definitely one I’ll remember forever. Here are some of my pictures of the night including one of an amused security guard and a blurry one of Reyes smiling at the crowd.
Let’s go mets!,

These last two want to align-left. I got stuff I gotta do. You’ll cope.
I doubt the Mainstream media will get this point, but what do you think has a bigger impact on how much Reyes wants to stay on this team?
A. Wilpon’s sorta underhanded comments about the ceiling for his next contract.
B. the very serious adoration and energy of the fans he plays in front of every day?
C. The dollars & years offered by the Mets vs. everybody else.
Nice story. This why I keep reading this blog.
Great story, gotta love Jose Jose Jose Jose Reyes!
