SNY will premiere the definitive list of the ‘50 greatest Mets players’ of all-time in May.
This 60-minute program presented by Citi – entitled 50 Greatest Mets – counts down the greatest players in club history, based on tabulated votes submitted by SNY’s blue ribbon panel, which includes Gary Cohen and Howie Rose, Ralph Kiner, columnist John Harper of the New York Daily News, and Steve Hirdt, the Executive Vice President of the Elias Sports Bureau.

This opens the door to a topic I wanted to get into. The SNY filler programing is terrible. Beer Money is a complete waste.
Now, I imagine that all the money is in games and they don’t care if anyone is watching at other times…but at that point show informercials over Beer Money.
In the past I have pitched my How I Met The Mets series. I thought together we could come up with some INEXPENSIVE ideas for SNY.
I’ll go first…
I call it HOWIE AND KINER TELL STORIES.
Two chairs, a fixed cam (hell, use the SNY set on 5th avenue) and have Howie and Kiner tell stories. Some light editing. Done.
We all know Ralph has a million good stories. We all know Howie is awesome. Make it.
How about 1/2 hour shows that highlight every Met win ever played? I think it would be fun to watch the old games from 1962 and 63. Anyway, I guess SNY must own the films so again it would be just editing and a voice over(Kevin Burkhardt)
I would like an interview series with past-Mets. Bad ones, good ones, OK ones. Whomever. Talk about the good, the bad, the fans, the minors, the groupies. Kinda like the shoot interviews done in the pro-wrestling world with retired guys. Who wouldn’t love to hear road stories or one guy burying another guy. It’d be interesting at the least I’d think. Can be done easily with Howie asking the questions in the studio.
You’d be surpised how many other markets jumped on the Beer Money thing…
I have to say, as an out of towner for 10 years now… shows like DNL, Loudmouths, etc. really help to stay connected to the goings on.
