  1. I'd think well, here is the thing, if Pedro Martinez used, he would have been more durable in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. But I suppose it is possible he went on in 2000-2001 and that helped contribute to his breakdown physically in the subsequent years.

Alou nuff said, that would not surprise me at all.

Luis Castillo? That sort of makes no sense at all.

  2. Just curious, which 2 names on this list were supposed to surprise us? Would any name actually surprise you at this point? Anyone who thinks these people shouldn't be banned permanently, I assume would also be ok with someone like Bernie Madoff defrauding you out of your money. It's essentially the same thing, one big act to procure millions of dollars. We are just the bottom of the pyramid and mean nothing to the players, owners, or commissioner as long as they all get paid.

Also, I don't see how Selig doesn't think this is worse than Pete Rose… that one flat out baffles me. Pete Rose didn't cheat (that we know of), so having cheaters is better than having a gambler?

  3. If Pedro juiced, it *would* be a surprise as nothing in his career suggests it. There was no sudden improvement in his performance at any point. He never bulked up. He certainly hasn't defied his age.
