Nice View From Citi Field Section 106

I’ve decided that to enjoy Citi Field you have to spend some money.  As I sat frustrated at my seats in the 500’s I started thinking that maybe I’d be happier with fewer but costlier seats in the 400’s.

Last week i got to sit “downstairs.”

Section 106 is a really nice seat.

At $45 for a “value” game you could convince me to get season tickets.  At $60 for a Bronze all the way to $105 for a Platinum ticket, sorry I can’t do that.

The view is much closer than these non-zoomed Iphone pictures make it look.

Not bad at all – and no plexiglass!

  1. I've only been to two games at Citi Field, but I've been quite happy with my seats both times. The first time I was in the 500s directly behind the plate (where there are no staircases, so the front rows are problem-free). It was a weekday day game, and I got the tickets on StubHub for their $20 face value. The second game was in the 500s between home and third, and the view was great. It was a Sunday home game, and we paid $40/seat on StubHub for seats with a $30 face value.

While I wouldn't want to sit in the 500s in the outfield, with StubHub there's plenty of availability for some very good upper deck seats at reasonable prices. The pricing scheme for tickets presumes that it's always better to sit closer to the field, even out in the outfield. Personally, I'd rather sit higher up and behind the plate than in the first few rows near the outfield. Fortunately, the ticket pricing scheme rewards someone with my preferences, as I'll pay a lot less to sit up there than I'll pay to sit near the field down the line.

For those who haven't been up there, and are worried that it's like the old upper deck at Shea, it's nothing like it. I sat 4 rows from the back of the upper deck at Shea for all of game 5 of the 1999 NLCS, and there were times that I barely thought I was in the building except for the fact that it was shaking violently. The 500s level at Citi Field is much closer, with even row 9 feeling as close as the old Mezzanine at Shea used to be.
