I give the Mets such a hard time that I’m happy when I can report that they did something nice…although I wish the subject were different. From Newsday:
Ten-year-old Nicholas Reda and his 8-year-old brother, Matthew, grabbed their baseballs and charged to the front of the room where Mets pitchers Tim Redding and Nelson Figueroa were just settling into their chairs.
Their mother, Nicole, took pictures as they collected autographs and posed with the players.
“My husband would have loved this,” Nicole said, recalling how as new parents they had taken pictures of Nicholas in a Mets hat during the World Series in 2000.
Gregory Reda died eight years ago in the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center. Thursday, the New Hyde Park brothers were among the 34 kids from Tuesday’s Children who were hosted by the Mets. The Manhasset-based organization was started as a support group for children who had lost a parent in the attack.

Newsday also mentions that the SNYers are slipping in a state name every night…
