Mets Police Morning Laziness: Baseball game goes 7 hours

SLACKISH REACTION:  Woke up to an email from a friend saying he was going to bed at 3:32am.

I know you’re probably expecting to me to hate on last night’s World Series game but I am not.  I put it on myself, around 10:45 and was presently surprised to see it was 1-0 and the game was moving along.  I also didn’t care and switched over to DVR.

I do like games when you see a starter pitch 6 in relief.   I like when teams trade runs in the 13th.  I love the chaos of it being unclear who will be the starting pitchers tonight.  All fun.  So despite everything I wrote all week, this one, on a Friday, in an insane 7 hours twenty minutes, ending after midnight even in Los Angeles (man I wish it had been a school night) – that’s all fun.   The sport stilll has tons of issues, but this is not the game to hate on.

METS GM:  I have largely been avoiding this one but riddle me this….

  1.  Why would the Mets want someone with no baseball team experience (you can fact check me, but I don’t see any, apologies if wrong) to run a baseball team?
  2. Why would someone who can just sit home and make a big commission from the JDG renewal take Wilpon Money for this gig?

It’s all very very strange.  Today I see a million articles that the union isn’t happy about it.  It’s all very strange.

NOT LINKING:  Dom Smith left his Winter Ball team because he wasn’t getting enough time in the OF.  You didn’t even know Dom Smith was playing Winter Ball so let’s not get too upset over this story.  I’m increasingly convinced a well meaning Mickey Hodges ruined this young man’s career.  Back to you Howie.
