Here’s a fun read: Mike Piazza presided over the destruction of a 100-year-old soccer team – HardballTalk
Now, that article is sourcing an article from The Athletic, and normally I’d lin to the original.
HOWEVER, long time readers may remember that when The Athletic came out I asked Ken Rosenthal what would be the appropriate way to excerpt and link to his site, and his reply was kind of jerky.
I have no problem with people being jerky because my blog is jerky if we’re being honest, but on that day I had come in peace and was rebuffed. That’s fine, I am happy to not link at all.
Other choices for this story might have included Deadspin – but they printed the stupid article asking when Manfred would make the Wilpons sell the Mets….and I love asking when Manfred will do something about these Steinbrenners who have gone the entire 2010s without a World Series Appearance – in market 1, with their own network, with all the advantages of NYC – when will Manfred so something?????…..ok I digress, but no link for Deadspin.
Thus, read the nice summary on Hardball Talk. Im just happy any time I get to use Angry Piazza Soccer Face as the featured image in a post.
